Muppy is de favoriete hond van de eigenaar van het Muppet theather J.P. Grosse.
Zijn debuut was in aflevering 101 van The Muppet Show wat ook zijn vooraanstaande optreden was. Ook al is Muppy doofstom, hij weet te communiceren via Scooter en gebruikt dat om Kermit onder druk te zetten om zijn eigen act, kleedkamer en naamsvermelding te krijgen, hij drinkt zelf Kermit's melk. Maar wanneer hij eist dat de naam van de show wordt veranderd naar The Muppy Show stopt Kermit, Fozzie in de act in plaats van Muppy.
In de latere afleveringen komt hij eigenlijk alleen nog maar voor als een achtergrond-Muppet, maar hij houdt wel zijn bijtende gedrag wat in aflevering 101 ook veel voorkomt. Zo bijt hij Kermit aan het einde van de panel discussie in aflevering 107 en gaat hij acher Harvey Korman aan in aflevering 110. In aflevering 221, is vervangen door Baskerville the Hound in the "Long, Long Ago" medley.
Muppy was gebouwd om zo realistisch mogelijk over te komen om te zorgen dat er mid-shot een overgang gemaakt kon worden tussen de pop en de levende hond die was gebruikt om Muppy in langere scenes te spelen. Dezelfde techniek is gebruikt bij het gebruik van Foo-Foo (De hond van Miss Piggy).
