Madura English–Sinhala Dictionary (Nederlands: Madura Engels–Singalees Woordenboek) is een gratis elektronische woordenboekservice ontwikkeld door Madura Kulatunga.^[1]^[2]^[3] Het is beschikbaar als computersoftware,^[4] een online website en^[5] een Android-app.^[6] Het woordenboek bevat meer dan 230.000 definities inclusief verschillende technische termen.^[7]^[8]^[9] Met ingang van 2016, het woordenboek is ongeveer 1.000.000 keer gedownload^[10] en staat op de 100e plaats van meest bezochte sites in Sri Lanka.^[11] Het woordenboek wordt verspreid als freeware.^[12]^[13]^[14] Het werd in eerste instantie uitgebracht op 23 november 2002.^[15]^[16]^[17]

Ontwikkeling[bewerken]

Kulatunga creëerde het Madura English–Sinhala Dictionary op basis van het Malalasekara Engels - Singalees woordenboek samengesteld door de heer Gunapala Malalasekara.^[18]^[19]^[20] Visual Basic en Microsoft Access zijn gebruikt om het computer software programma te compileren.^[21]^[22]^[23] Madura English–Sinhala Dictionary, 's werelds eerste online woordenboek Engels-Singalees, wordt door Sri Lankaanse mensen gebruikt in hun educatieve en professionele activiteiten.^[24]^[25]^[26]
