Jos Walenkamp
Jozef Hendricus Cornelis Walenkamp (Leiden, 24 november 1948) is emeritus lector aan De Haagse Hogeschool.
Loopbaan
Jos Walenkamp is emeritus lector Internationale Samenwerking en ‘fellow’ aan De Haagse Hogeschool.
Zijn loopbaan had verschillende internationale aspecten. Tijdens zijn studie biologie aan de Universiteit Leiden werkte hij als toeristengids op de Galápagos Eilanden, Ecuador, en na zijn promotie - over de systematiek en zoogeografie van zeesterren van de Guyana’s (Walenkamp,1981) - ging hij naar Mozambique om als suppletiedeskundige te werken aan de Eduardo Mondlane Universiteit in Maputo. Hij beëindigde zijn zesjarig verblijf daar als hoogleraar-directeur van de Biologiefaculteit. In 1988 behaalde Walenkamp een Master Degree ‘Fisheries Biology and Management’ aan de University of Wales. In 1989 ging hij naar Nigeria om daar voor de Europese Commissie leiding te geven aan een team dat de Training and Research Programmes voor Nigeria beheerde. Twee jaar later werd Walenkamp aangesteld als hoofd, en later directeur, ontwikkelingssamenwerking van de Nederlandse Organisatie voor Internationale Samenwerking in Onderwijs en Onderzoek, Nuffic. De laatste twee jaar bij Nuffic was hij directeur Kennis en Innovatie.
Tijdens zijn studie en zijn promotieonderzoek gaf Walenkamp les aan het Pieter Groen College in Katwijk en aan het Rijnlands Lyceum Oegstgeest. In 1976 werd hij benoemd tot conservator van het Palaeontologisch en Mineralogisch Kabinet van het Teylers Museum in Haarlem.
In 2009 werd Walenkamp door De Haagse Hogeschool benoemd tot lector Internationale Samenwerking. Eind 2017 ging hij met emeritaat en werd benoemd tot ‘Fellow’. Hij is nu actief voor PUM, ‘Netherlands Senior Experts’.
Bij zijn afscheid werd Walenkamp benoemd tot Officier in de Orde van Oranje Nassau
Jos Walenkamp is getrouwd en heeft een zoon.
