Behemoth (Gene) is een oranje monster en een full-body Muppet die voorkwam in The Muppet Show, Muppets Tonight en drie van de films.
De eerste keer dat hij voorkwam was in aflevering waar hij zwarte wenkbrauwen in plaats van Bruine had,daarna is hij nog een paar keer opgedoken in de serie.
De meest opvallende keer dat hij voorkwam was tijdens het optreden van het nummer "Under My Skin" waarin hij de artiest Shakey Sanchez die het optreden deed probeerden op te eten.
Daarna is hij een tijd niet echt bijzonder voorgekomen met uitzondering van de kleine rolletjes hier en daar maar hij kwam weer terug in The Muppets (film) waarin hij een sprekende rol had.
In 2011, Bill Barretta speelde het karakter in de film die toen uitkom + de trailers en promo's. Barretta heeft het karakter hernoemd naar "Gene", de naam van zijn broer.
In een promo voor The Muppets (film) op Disney Channel noemt Kermit de Kikker het karakter bij de naam "Gene" waarop het karakter reageert, ook staat er in de "The Muppets Charachter Encyclopedia" dat Gene de echte naam van het karakter is en dat hij Behemoth als artiesten naam.
Behemoth werd gespeeld door Richard Hunt (in aflevering 119), Dave Goelz (in aflevering 115), Jerry Nelson (in aflevering 202) en Bill Barretta sinds The Muppets (film)
